6 Minute Walk Test (6MWT)

6 Minute Walk Test (6MWT)

The 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) is a standardized, sub-maximal exercise assessment used to evaluate a patient's functional walking capacity and monitor exercise-induced blood oxygen desaturation (hypoxia).

Why is the 6MWT Performed?

  • Evaluates response to medical treatments in COPD, Asthma, and Pulmonary Fibrosis.
  • Determines need for Long-Term Oxygen Therapy (LTOT) during exercise.
  • Objective assessment of pre-treatment and post-rehabilitation exercise tolerance.
