Spirometry (PFT Test)

Computerized Spirometry & Pulmonary Function Testing

Spirometry is the primary Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) used to assess how much air your lungs can hold and how fast you can exhale. It measures key parameters such as Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) and Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV1).

Clinical Importance

  • Differentiates Obstructive lung diseases (Asthma, COPD) from Restrictive lung conditions (ILD, Pulmonary Fibrosis).
  • Post-bronchodilator reversibility testing to confirm Asthma diagnosis.
  • Pre-operative fitness assessment before major surgical procedures.
